Why Pay for Press Release Services?

What is the difference between free press release services and paid ones? Is there any difference at all?

First of all, what is a press release service? Free press release services, also known as news wires, are websites that offer news feeds of press releases. Not completely unlike the Facebook news feed, you will receive updates on your page when a company you are tracking issues a press release.

But are the best press release sites (as logic would suggest) the ones you have to pay for? Some press release sites offer news wire services, free of charge, with a trial mentality. These companies offer limited free press release services in the hopes that a customer will eventually, once he or she is comfortable with the system, upgrade to the payed membership.

There are, however, purely free press release services out there. This is a good sign of a decent free service. You will know that such sites are not limiting your services under the impression that eventually one will want to pay up once they are fed up with being restricted.

These free press release services are not going to come with much of a downgrade of quality. A press release is released usually not to one company exclusively to distribute, so if one has a free press release site, there is an assurance that any big releases will become fed into the news feed.

The only remarkable difference may be layout and functionality of pay sites vs. free sites. Pay sites may be better organized because they have more funding to outsource better web design, but the difference is often nuanced and insignificant.
